Is Tales Math Solver free?
Yes. You get a number of free solves every day, no account required. The CalcES scientific calculator next door is free without limits.
How accurate are the solutions?
Tales solves with a math engine — every step is a real mathematical operation, the way a calculator reaches its answer, so there is no guessing involved. The engine is test-solved against the 214-million-problem bank and real exam papers. If something still looks wrong, one tap reports it to us — a human reviews every report.
Is Tales an AI chatbot?
No. A chatbot writes text that sounds right — at its core it’s predicting words, and it can’t know whether it’s correct. Tales is a math engine: every step in the solution is a mathematical operation actually performed, the way a handheld calculator gets its answer. Calculators don’t guess — neither does Tales.
What is the bank of 214,000,000 problems?
It’s the collection of problem types and exam formats we’ve gathered and organized from school mathematics — from grade-6 exercises to standardized exams. Tales’s engine is tested against this bank, so the kind of problem you type has almost certainly been seen here before.
What kinds of math problems can it solve?
Algebra (equations, systems, inequalities, factoring), calculus (derivatives, integrals, limits), matrices and linear algebra, number theory (prime factorization, GCD, LCM, modulo), combinatorics and probability, trigonometry, sequences, and worded problems that lead to these.
Can it solve geometry problems?
Not yet. Tales solves problems expressed in words, symbols and numbers: algebra, calculus, number theory, combinatorics and probability, trigonometry, matrices. Geometry problems that need a figure or a geometric proof aren’t supported yet — we’d rather do fewer things exactly than more things loosely, and geometry is on the roadmap. Type one in and Tales will say so honestly instead of guessing.
What grade levels does it cover?
Middle school through university. Grade 6–7 fractions and GCD, high-school algebra, calculus and probability, up to university-level matrices — and the solution is written to match the level of the problem you type.
Can I take a photo of my problem?
Not yet — right now you type or paste the problem (a math keyboard helps with symbols). Photo input is on the roadmap.
Why is it called Tales?
Tales is named after Thales — the first mathematician in recorded history credited with proving a theorem rather than simply believing it. The name is the product’s spirit: no step is ever just assumed — each one is actually computed.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Tales works well on phones, tablets and computers — the math keyboard is comfortable on a touchscreen.
Can I share a solution?
